A retired fisherman, I was born on 22 April 1928 and started fishing as a child, at the age of 8, and later I was already making and mending nets. I hardly went to school. Thanks to my son, also a fisherman, whom I still help, I can keep up to date with fishing.

When I was very young I used to ask my grandparents to tell me details and anecdotes about fishing. I was always very well looked after. Also in retirement, I have really enjoyed teaching 7 to 9 year olds and their teachers how to tie knots.
